David Chang executive chef of Momofuku Ko has caused a stir in the streets of New York, creating an online reservation system for the tiny 12 counter seats at the restaurant in Manhattan’s lower East Village. “I’ve said no to a lot of people. We are making no exceptions. If my parents want to eat here, they have to make a reservation too, it’s really quite simple. If we do it for one person, we’d have to do it for everybody,” Chang said. In a city that notability and money mostly warrants success in getting a table at top class restaurants, this quirky idea has made it almost possible for anyone. I did say almost, the only way to get a seat is to log onto Momofuku Ko’s website, create an account, register with a credit card and try and take a crack at finding an empty space. The evidently exclusive system has certainly caused its fair share of headaches. Somebody hacked into the reservation system the first time it went online, causing it to crash. Also scalpers have tried to sell their seats at a higher price. Some have succeeded in a reservation, with its $90 tasting menu that focuses on French and Asian cooking. So if you did manage to get a booking at this exclusive restaurant and could invite anyone in the world, what 12 people would you invite? View video of Momofuku restaurant
